The 10th Worldwide Conference of the Society for East Asian Archaeology (SEAA) is set to take place next year in Aberdeen, Scotland. The call for papers, posters, and session proposals will officially open on September 2, 2024, with a submission deadline for abstracts and registration set for November 29, 2024.
SEAA10 Conference, August 19-23, 2025
- Publication of call for papers, posters, and sessions: September 2024
- Registration and abstracts due: November 29, 2024
- Conference dates: August 19-23, 2025
The conference will cover a broad range of topics, focusing on the archaeology of East Asia and nearby regions, including Eurasia, North Asia, the Pacific, Southeast Asia, and the global East Asian diaspora. Attendees can look forward to engaging presentations in parallel sessions as well as a dedicated space for poster displays. The event will be hosted by the Department of Archaeology within the School of Geosciences at the University of Aberdeen.
The conference venue is located on the historic campus of the University of Aberdeen, one of the oldest universities in Britain, situated in one of the northernmost cities in the UK. Despite its location, Aberdeen is well connected by air, train, and road to the rest of the UK and Europe, making it easily accessible for international attendees.
In addition to the conference sessions, a series of field trips will be available, including a mid-conference excursion to explore Aberdeenshire’s rich archaeological sites. Post-conference options will feature visits to Scotland’s major museums housing significant Asian collections, as well as opportunities to explore the archaeology of the Orkney Islands.
For those also attending the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) meeting in Belgrade, scheduled for September 3-6, 2025, the SEAA conference fits perfectly in the calendar as a prelude to this event.
